I arrived at Street Youth Hostel so late last night, and just wanted to go to get some food and go to bed, but whilst I was eating an annoying man just talked at me and wouldn't leave me alone. I didn't know how to tell him to go away without being rude, but it was a bad move as he didn't leave me alone at breakfast either!
My friend Nibbs arrived early and met me at the Youth Hostel: he's cycling with me today. During the morning we passed Wells Cathedral, which looked nice. When we entered Bristol it got very hilly, but the Clifton Suspension Bridge was an amazing sight.
Once we'd got to the other side of Bristol we stopped for lunch in a pub, and when we got talking to the landlady she sponsored us! Thank you!!
When we set off again after lunch we could see the Old Severn Bridge but it took us an hour to actually get to it - the distances were very deceiving. There was a great view as we rode over it though. Thank goodness the wind was not too strong and they hadn't closed it!
The route through Chepstow was one big hill, 10 miles long! As we cycled along, a low flying aircraft went overhead and I was so busy watching it that I lost control of the bike and ended up in a nettle patch. No harm done to me or the bike though!
We passed into Wales and followed the A466 through a stunning valley, with some good downhill stretches. As we got closer to the day's final destination the signposts were not very helpful, so we got lost about an hour. In the end I found my campsite by accident, and my fiance Rachel, who had got there earlier and set up my tent for me. When I saw her I jumped off my bike and gave her a hug. It was the best part of my day.
I left the bike at the campsite and we drove to a nearby pub to meet up with Nibbs' wife and my friend Cath. We had a lovely meal and spent lots of time talking about the rest of the journey. At half past nine I was very tired, so Rachel drove me back to the campsite and tucked me into my (very small!!) tent.
I'm glad the weather is good tonight, although I think I may get uncomfortable so I'm not looking forward to trying to get to sleep.
Weather looks to stay good for tomorrow, and I've got a much shorter distance to cover than the last two days.
Wish me luck!!
