Day 9: Carlise to Biggar

SCOTLAND!!

Honestly, who thought I would make it this far?
I have made it into the last country of my trip.
Today I spent most of the day following the Clyde Valley. It was reasonably fast although the head wind was strong. It was about 70 miles in total. Slightly longer than I had planned as I decided to take a detour to the Lockabie memorial to the 270 lives lost when a Pan Am Boeing 747 was brought down by a bomb in 1988.

After that my right knee decided that it did not want to play anymore so I had to cycle for about an hour using one leg which was very difficult.
In total today I have been very well fed. I started with cereal and a fry up, then roast beef and chocolate pudding for lunch, a double whopper meal mid-aftenoon, and pasta penne and strawberry sundae for dinner. I have been booked into another nice hotel thanks to my family, the manager has also donated some of my room cost to Naomi House. Thank you.

Also I have got messages from people I work with to people I have met on route and people I have never met. All much appreciated, thank you.

One final note. My mother phoned me as she does asking about my progress and where I was. So I replied saying there was a sign in front of me spelling out C Y C L E L A N E. After typing it in Google maps and me laughing down the phone for what seemed like a lifetime she got it. Cycle lane. Well done Mum!
